Torkel Patterson is a founder and Principal of NMV Consulting, LLC. Torkel also serves as the President of U.S.-Japan Maglev (USJMAGLEV), a U.S.-based company that promotes Central Japan Railway Company’s (JRC’s) SuperConducting MAGLEV technology. Additionally, he is a Senior Advisor to U.S.-Japan High-Speed Rail (USJHSR), a U.S.-based company that promotes JRC's N700-I Bullet train system.
Torkel previously served for more than six years with Raytheon Company, including more than four years as President, Raytheon International Inc., leading Raytheon Company's international business development. Torkel also served in a variety of posts in the U.S. Government in three administrations, including Special Assistant to the President for Asia, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, and Senior Country Director for Japan in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Torkel is a member of the Board of Governors of Pacific Forum CSIS: and a distinguished graduate of the United States Naval Academy; and was an Olmsted Scholar at the University of Tsukuba in Ibaraki, Japan.
